Company history
Below is a list of relevant events in the company's history, providing the best overview of foundation and development of Arco Transport AS during past years:
March 1996 - AS Arco Trans was registered in Tallinn Commercial Register; the company started out in office in Saue with three used trucks and trailers.
March 1997 – Arco Trans gained full membership at Association of Estonian International Road Carriers. Read more: www.eraa.ee
June 1997 - AS Arco Trans acquired first 3 new Scania trucks.
September 1997 - AS Arco Trans signed an importer agreement with Kromhout, a trailer manufacturer from Holland .
December 1997 - AS Arco Trans was named the fastest growing company by growth of turnover in Eesti Ühispank
January 1998 - OÜ Arco Transport was registered in Tallinn Commercial Register. Four logistics commence work; by end 1998 seven logistics were employed by OÜ Arco Transport.
February 1998 – Arco Transport gained full-membership of Estonian Freight Forwarders Association. Read more: www.effa.ee
July 1998 – OÜ Arco Agentuur was founded, providing customs brokerage service. Tallinn branch of Arco Transport Group was opened.
September 1998 - AS Arco Trans sold 105 new Kromhout semitrailers during the previous year: 75 to Estonia and 30 to Lithuania .
January 1999 - Arco Transport Group had achieved a significant transportation market share in Estonia . By the end of 1998, Arco Transport employed 7 freight forwarders; turnover reached 3,6 million EUR and it was achieved through 4780 forwarding contracts.
February 1999 - as a result of efforts of the Kromhout sales team of AS Arco Trans, a line of credit was signed with Ühisliisingu AS (leasing company of Eesti Ühispank) and NCM (Export Credit Foundation of Holland) in an amount of NLG 25 million.
April 1999 - AS Arco Trans was named the official representative of German bridge manufacturer SAF in Estonia .
January 2000 – Company fulfilled 6332 contracts, turnover reached 5,2 million EUR and there was 17 employees on payroll last year.
May 2000 - City office of Arco Transport Group moved into a larger office at Kadaka Road .
January 2001 - Turnover of AS Arco Transport during 2000 increased by nearly 30% compared to 1999, it reached 7 million EUR. 5 new employees joined Arco Transport and altogether 6974 contracts were fulfilled.
February 2001 - AS Arco Transport signed cooperation agreement with German transportation company Martin Grease Speditionsgesellschaft GmbH. Thanks to the new partner, Arco Transport Group is able to provide a higher quality service for transportation from Germany to Estonia .
September 2001 - Arco Transport Group opened its representative office in Tartu .
January 2002 - By the end of 2001 Arco Transport employed 23 persons, turnover reached 9 million EUR and it was achieved through 11726 forwarding contracts.
April 2002 - Arco Transport Group launched its electronic enquiry & order environment, which is among the first ones of its kind among transport companies in Estonia . This new distribution channel allows our clients to make enquiries and orders through web, follow the events, summarize statistics and pass on questions and notes to us. December 2002 - Arco Transport Group opened its representative
office in
Riga
,
Latvia
. The business was started with two
employees, both having a long experience in the field of logistics.
January 2003 - By the end of 2002 Arco Transport employed 26 persons, turnover reached 10,5 million EUR and it was achieved through 14577 forwarding contracts.
June 2003 - Arco Transport Group moved into new facility situated at Pärnasalu 11, Saue. Our modern office building houses all our businesses now.
September 2003 - Arco Transport Group opened its new warehouse terminal with 660 m2 of space. The terminal is situated just next to our office at Pärnasalu 11, Saue. Here most of the goods are checked at arrival from trailers and reloaded to our distribution vehicles.
January 2004 - Arco Transport has reached a level of having at least one collection/ distribution partner in every European country, allowing us to offer more flexible service and pricing-policy for our customer. In 2003 company employed 29 persons, turnover reached through 16685 contracts to 11,6 million EUR.
February 2004 – Arco Transport started forwarding container freights.
May 2004 - Estonia joined EU and as an effect the lead times for our customers have shortened significantly. Also the amount of paperwork has diminished.
September 2004 – As official logistics partner to Association of Estonian Architects, Arco Transport delivered Estonia ’s official exhibits to the La Biennale di Venezia International Exhibition.
January 2005 – 30 people worked in Arco Transport in previous year, making 20255 contracts and lifting the turnover to 14,3 million EUR. Major management decision to switch to new accounting software Microsoft Navision was made.
December 2005 – Arco Transport gained full membership of Estonian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Read more: www.koda.ee
January 2006 – Last year turned out to be calm, but rapid year of growth. Altogether Arco Transport employed 33 persons, 17,3 million EUR turnover was made through 23374 contracts.
May 2006 – Arco Transport hosted IFA annual meeting. 48 independent freight forwarding companies all over Europe sent their representatives to a 2-day conference at Hotel Viru in Tallinn .
January 2007 – The year 2006 gave us a 20% growth, with a turnover reaching 20,8 million EUR thanks to 27267 contracts. By the end of the year, 38 people were employed.
